As usual the Lakers attack led the way, as Wells Stanwick scored 3 goals and added 3 assists, while Patrick Foster scored 2 of his own and tallied 4 assists. Ryan Jarvis scored 3 goals, and Kevin O'Neil, Jeff Chase, Conor Finch, Andrew Dempsey, Alec Whitman and Greg Pyke each added a goal.
The Cavaliers were also led by their attack, as Luke Dick scored 3 goals, with an assist, and Matt Franchak chipped in with 2 goals. Connor McRoy scored a goal and added 2 assists, and Wade Korvin, Billy Binder and Chris Piccirilli each scored a goal.
Kevin Hess did the best he could to keep things close against the high powered Laker offense by making 12 saves, many coming off his helmet and pads.
Spalding got the early momentum as McRoy scored unassisted two minutes in, to give them the early 1-0 lead.
Boys' Latin quickly countered as R.G. Keenan won his first of many faceoffs, fed Foster, who hit Stanwick for a nice juke move and a goal to tie at it one. Keenan finished the day winning 16 of his 20 faceoffs.
The two teams traded goals, Franchak getting his first and Jarvis getting his first as well on a beautiful feed from Stanwick, before the Lakers ran off three straight to end the first quarter with a 5-2 lead. Foster fed a cutting Dempsey in the middle before he set up Jarvis on a rocket shot opposite side high, while Stanwick finished the run with an extra man laser shot from about 20 feet away.
Spalding bounced back in the second quarter, as they scored the first three goals, two from Dick with one by defenseman Piccirilli on an end to end run sandwiched in between, to tie things up at 5.
The game of runs continued as the Lakers scored the final three goals of the half, two in a 17 second span, and the final with just :02 seconds remaining as Foster drove from the endline and hit Wells on the left wing for yet another laser to give them an 8-5 lead at the break.
The third quarter was when Boys' Latin put the game away, as they out-scored Spalding 4-0 in the quarter to jump out to an insurmountable 12-5 lead. Foster scored unassisted as he took the ball from the right behind and drove to the left front, dodging about three Cavaliers along the way and then faked Hess for the 9-5 lead. Finch scored on a rebound as the Lakers were man up and Stanwick got pass happy as he connected with Jarvis and O'Neil to put the game away.
Spalding(8-5,5-2) hopes to rebound on Friday at home against Mount St. Joe, while the Lakers(11-1,7-0) will face another tough test as they travel to Blakefield on Saturday to face Loyola, which defeated Calvert Hall today 7-6.
